Questions:
Q- I have a web site why should I sign up?
A-

We are building a music only non bias search engine, the data you provide (location and genre) us is how A&R and fans world wide will find you..

Not only do we give you a free listing we give you a simple to use automatically generated web site that can hold 3 songs, 10 pictures, and 1 video clip. The music and videos are added to our radio and jukebox play lists, were it can be heard but not downloaded, and is always coming from and linked to your MG web site.

For $5.00 per month we are offering a full service expansion package that adds a forum and chat along with many other band related web services that can be administered and added to your other sites.

For $14.95 per year for your own .com (includes a 10 page storefront site) click here

Q- You filmed my band when will my video appear on the site?
A-

Bands that are signed up with pictures and music and links. Get first attention. If you were filmed at a music festival and decided not to sign up your video may appear on the music festivals site.

We're not filming any more interviews at this time, and we will have a number of requirements to film future shows.

Keep your eyes out for some up coming contests..hint...

Q- Is musicgroups just a directory? What makes you different?
A-

No the directory is a feature of the musicgroups network that displays our users and their sites. We then have other systems similar to a directory that display the genres, links, and category pages.

We offer free promotional sites and hosting of music, video, pictures, and other files from our members. The membership is shared from the 100 plus sites that make up the musicgroups network.

Each new member site adds its members, who then are included in the musicgroups global systems. With in a few years this site will be the AOL of music. Not owned by a big corporation, our goal is to remain non bias and help artists world wide.

Our members are encouraged to sell directly from sites such as cdbaby, and Amazon. We will do everything to support independent artists and their music sales. We will have our own digital download options available at some point. We are truly building a music data source like no other, and this is being done grassroots, your support is important.

Q- I have a music web site can I join musicgroups?
A-

YES, All music sites are welcome to join this project and share in this resource. The chat, forums, and user sites are working today. You can sign up as a user in the industry section, in our music web sites section.

We have options for users to take over the 'genre' your an expert in, with full paid options. Our internal licensee's use the established systems and manage the content for that topic. This is a new media of untold potential, join us today.

Another option, is for external sites to join the musicgroups network and make use of the systems in a branded environment built to the needs of the client. Making our system completely unique in the fact we don't need to modify the users site to add services. The client shares only the info they want to publicize. We have hosted and non hosted options available.

That's our philosophy why would a music web site owner build and modify a custom site to meet the ever changing needs of a on line community, that will forever need updates and maintained. When you join a system built for global use, adding new members to your services and promoting your members through out the sister sites in one move.

Or member sites never having to worry about development or anything outside promoting your site and developing content. This system is all inclusive so all features working are automatically added, and all beta system features can be explored for early adoption. Our current offer is a 70% x 30% split on our advertising and upgrade systems, our licensees make 70% of all sales's and never have to worry about site development ever again. Each new member helps strengthen the network, and will allow us to compete in the global music market.

Q- What things can I search?
A-

Currently all searches are done through the directory and only show our database. We are adding google results, and results from numerous other data sources, to try and remove the bias search results most search engines have developed.

Over time (a few years) we will install our own music spiders, and increase the import systems potetial..Why is this important? So musicgroups can share that info back with the user base and member sites, allowing them to access huge amount of searchable info and focus on music, not data.

Q- Musicgroups and MusicMoz and the Netscape Open Directory Project
A-

Our free un- edited sites, are in the to be deleted category, until edited and info like pictures and music are added. Our solution was to mix this info with other unverified sources, such as musicmoz, dmoz, the open directory. Our goal is to verify and return the data, with data from our global music and arts only system. Its our goal to keep the info non bias, and we hope to work closely with musicmoz, dmoz, to meet their goals

This appears to be just an old mirror of an Open Directory Project category. What's the point in that? These

When the project was launched, all music related content was imported. Until one of our members edits a link page, links and text are all we are able to offer in that display. This is a short term issue; as the project grows so will the depth and breadth of content we are able to provide.

Q- What is the relation between this project and the Open Directory Project?
A-

Musicgroups and many of its features were inspired by and MusicMoz the Open Directory Project. MusicMoz also uses Open Directory Project data, which any site may do providing they display the correct attribution.

Musicgroups.com and MusicMoz is not affiliated with Netscape, although many of our volunteer editors also edit at the Open Directory Project.
