Insurance <i>examiners</i> typically are associated with life/health carriers, and adjusters with property/casualty. <i>Appraisers</i> are expert in determining the value of insured items. They also determine the actual amount of damage, such as the loss a car received in an accident. <i>Investigators</i> are detectives who research hard cases, as when fraud might be suspected. <i>Surveyors</i> are combination appraisers and adjusters, usually associated with marine claims.
